Don is President of the Board of Directors for both the Cedarville Marksmanship Adult and Student Organizations. His primary job is to promote the organizations, further their agenda, and establish new contacts and supporters as both organizations move forward, as well as the development of a state of the art range in Cedarville.
Don has been married for 33 years to Molly and they have two daughters, Danielle and Jillian. Both daughters are married and have three grandchildren: Hannah, Braedon and Charlotte.
He has worked for the Campus Safety & Security Department at Cedarville University for 13 years and is currently a Lieutenant for the department. He began getting involved in the shooting sports when he attended the Dayton Police Academy for his current position. He is firearms certified through the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy, licensed to carry a concealed weapon, has earned the marksman & pro-marksman Certification through the NRA, is an NRA certified Range Safety Officer and is working on his Pistol Instructor certification.
Don’s primary vision is to see a state-of-the-art indoor range facility that can be utilized by the club, local community, law enforcement, wounded warriors, youth organizations and others. His goals for The Cedarville Marksmanship Club include the continued growth of the club to 60 active members.
Doug is on the board and serves as VP of NRA Compliance, Special Events, Fundraising & Corporate Liaison. Doug is an NRA certified Pistol Instructor. He also has the high overall average score and a 2nd place for the traditional archery league.
Doug works for Cedarville University in the Music Department tuning, repairing & rebuilding their inventory of acoustic pianos. Doug is married and has four children, all who love to be outdoors exploring God’s creation.
He has been interested in the shooting sports for as long as he can remember. When he was about 4-5 yrs. old, he and his older brother wanted bows so they made their own. Immediately upon completion of both bows and arrows they began launching the arrows around the yard. He loves to shoot and wants to be part of promoting safe gun handling and shooting. As the club grows, he would love to see opportunities for multiple shooting disciplines established.
Steve’s role on the board is Director of Academic Compliance. He has had an interest in the shooting sports for over 15 yrs. He became interested when he became concerned about his home security and decided to purchase a firearm and become proficient in its use. He also is licensed to carry a concealed weapon.
Steve works at the University and is the Assistant Dean of Graduate Education in the School of Education. He married his high school sweetheart, Christa, and has been married for 39 years. They have 3 grown children who all attended Cedarville University. Currently he and his wife are enjoying 5 grandchildren, riding their Harley and daily walks for exercise.
He sees himself being involved in the student organization & helping to start a competitive shooting team. He also wants to serve the shooting community with providing information on the shooting sports and to provide enjoyable shooting experiences.
Vernon has been married for 32 years to Sandy, who is also on the board. They have two daughters, a son-in-law and a wonderful granddaughter. Vernon works at the University in the Production Services Department. He serves as the technical coordinator, designing both staging and lighting.
Vernon serves on the board as an Executive Officer. He has been “plinking” since Jr. High and would use his grandfathers Remington 587 .22LR to shoot pop cans perched on a fence. He formally became involved in the shooting sports two years ago, when the Marksmanship Club was formally started. He currently has his license to carry a concealed weapon, is NRA marksmanship certified and an NRA certified Range Safety Officer.
Vernon would like to see the organization become educational and competitive. He would like to introduce new people to the shooting sports and be able to develop their skills through various kinds of competition.
Sandy met her husband, Vernon, at Cedarville College before it became the University. They have been married for 32 years and have two daughters, Lauren and Caitlin, who both have attended Cedarville. Sandy enjoys spending time with her energetic granddaughter, Alizabeth. She is employed by the University in the School of Pharmacy as the assistant to the academic chair.
Sandy grew up with guns and was involved in a lot of target shooting as a child. She returned to this love once the Marksmanship Club was started. She currently has a carry conceal license, NRA marksman and pro-marksman certifications and is a certified Range Safety Officer. Her goal would be to see the organization develop into a premier club for education of firearms and support of the shooting sports. She would like to see its members sought after for their expertise in the field by other clubs, schools and venues.
Tim serves as the President of the CMC adult organization. Tim will be overseeing range times, competitions & activites held by the adult organization. Tim has enjoyed the shooting sports since he received his first BB gun at the age of 8. He would like to see the CMC continue to grow and introduce newcomers to the shooting sports.
Tim graduated from Cedarville University in 2003 and began working for the university in 2005. Tim currently serves as the Technical Director and Production Manager for Cedarville University’s DeVries Theatre. In this position he oversees the day to day operations of the Theatre facility, including the construction of the theatre sets, overseeing student labor for the departments, and ticketing for all productions.
Tim has been married to his wife Brittany for 6 years. They have a 2 year old son, Mason, and a new daughter, Everlee.
Barry is serving as the Vice-President for the CMC Adult Organization. Barry will be assisting Tim with all the activities, competitions and range times in the adult organization. Barry’s interest in firearms and shooting began at the age of ten and it has been a lifelong passion. He enjoys shooting rifles and shotguns as well as all types of handguns with a special emphasis on personal defense and tactical skills. Barry also enjoys gunsmithing and reloading his own ammunition. At the age of 18, he hand built a Kentucky flintlock, muzzle loading rife for his Grandfather to use for deer hunting. Since then, he has repaired and/or restored several vintage rifles. Barry holds both Ohio and Pennsylvania concealed carry permits and has completed the inaugural Advanced Handgun-training course sponsored by CMC this past spring. During this next year he looks forward to becoming a NRA certified pistol instructor. He would also like to test his skills with a handgun, through participation in IDPA, IPSC or other similar competitive organizations.
Barry and his wife Sharon have been married for 28 years and have three adult children Jessica, Stephen, and Melissa. Barry became active in CMC last year through an invitation from his son-in-law, Chip McKenzie. Barry has no direct ties to Cedarville University, unless you count the fact that his wife Sharon, daughter Jessica, son Stephen and daughter Melissa, are all graduates. Barry himself is a graduate of LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas with a degree in Aviation Technology. He holds a commercial pilot license with instrument and multi-engine ratings and has been employed in the aviation maintenance industry for thirty years. Presently, he works as an independent contractor for a small aviation maintenance consulting company in Wilmington, Ohio.
