Range Night

It was good to see so many members show up to enjoy the warm indoor environment. If your busy schedule allows, please join us this Thursday evening, 5:15 pm at the Mad River Armory and Range, located at 309 E Leffel Ln, Springfield, OH 45505.

If you have not been to one of our two previous indoor range nights this fall, you will be required to watch the 10 minute safety video before being allowed to shoot since the range is under new ownership.

As the weather continues to turn colder outside, we are very fortunate to have such a nice warm place to continue shooting comfortably inside. Please join us this Thursday if you are able.

First Indoor Range Night of Fall 2016

image374603-0f2d1cd62d0b1c01f36797e8507e9c77November is here and once again it’s time to move our range nights indoors. Since our last indoor range night back in March 2015, the Miami Valley Shooting Grounds in Springfield has changed ownership. The facility is now called the Mad River Armory and Range and I need to point out one significant change. Everyone will be required to watch their safety video and take a short quiz on the information presented in the video before being allowed to shoot. This applies to everyone without exception.

This Thursday, November 10, 2016 our range time is scheduled to begin at 5:15 pm and run till about 7:00 pm. Feel free to show up a little early this week to take care of the video and quiz if you like.

Upon checking in, it is important to let the range personnel know that you are a member of the Cedarville Marksmanship Club. In the past, we had become fairly complacent about charging for non-member guests however, going forward, we will need to enforce our original policy of charging non-first time guests $5.00 for using the range.

Don’t let the cold winter keep you from maintaining your shooting skills. Join us indoors this winter season and enjoy a warm friendly shooting environment at the Mad River Armory and Range, located at 309 E Leffel Ln, Springfield, OH 45505.

Hope to see you there.

Last Outdoor Range Night of 2016

satanswaitin13Thursday October 27, 2016 will be our last outdoor range night of the year. Overall we had an  good summer for outdoor shooting with several evenings dedicated to a particular shooting theme. Among these special themes was a night dedicated to black powder firearms, a black rifle (AR-15) night, and a night for vintage rifles. This week, I believe, has been designated as reactive target night.

If you like to do more than just punch holes in paper, if you like to see and/or hear something when you hit the mark, then plan on joining us for a fun time at the Cedarville range Thursday evening starting at 5:15 pm.

Sorry…NO Tannerite :-(

Range Night – Fall 2016

muzzleloading1Well this Thursday September 22, 2016 is not only our regularly scheduled range night it is also the first day of fall. It’s hard to believe 2016 is winding down already. Soon our shooting evenings will be limited by the daylight available. At least some cooler weather should be coming our way. The past few range nights have been very warm.

This week we will be having our annual black powder night. If you own a black powder gun; be it rifle, pistol or shotgun please bring it out. Last year we had a good turnout and everyone seemed to like learning about and shooting the different era firearms.

5;15 pm at the Cedarville range. See you there.

Range Night

fallThursday September 8, 2016 is once again range night. Those that came out last time enjoyed an evening of shooting AR-15s at approximately 80 yards.

This week will be an ordinary range night with no special theme. As usual the range will be set up for shooting handguns.

The evenings are getting shorter and our time for shooting outdoors is quickly coming to an end for this year so come on out and enjoy this last summer evening range night of 2016. Fall begins on our next range night Thursday September 22, 2016.

Black Rifle Night

BRThis Thursday evening August 25, 2016 will be our regularly scheduled range night and has been designated as Black Rifle night in honor of Armalite’s AR15 rifle designed in part by Eugene Stoner. As such, the range will be set up for rifle shooting however, we always find a way to also accommodate those of you wishing to shoot handguns.

If you own one of these terrific rifles or are able to borrow one (yes, it is still legal to borrow a firearm from a friend or relative as long as you are not otherwise prohibited from owning a firearm) plan on joining us for a fun evening of shooting this rifle that played such a big role in American history.

Hope to see you 5:15 at the Cedarville range. Who knows? There may even be some spontaneous friendly competition.

Range Night

This Thursday August 11, 2016 is our regularly scheduled range night. We will be set up for a normal evening of handgun shooting this week. Our last range night was designated as vintage rifle night and we had a good turn-out with quite a few interesting old military rifles on hand.

Hope to see you this Thursday at 5:15 pm on the Cedarville range!

Range Night

m1917enfield1Thursday, July 28th will be our regularly scheduled range night if the weather allows.  We had to cancel our last range night just before 5:00 pm due to strong pop-up thunderstorms. This week has been designated as vintage rifle night. The range will be set up for rifle shooting and we would like to ask you to bring any vintage rifles you may own. Bring them to shoot or just to show and tell the rest of us a little bit about them.

As usual, those that wish to shoot handguns will be able to do that as well.

Please plan to join us if you can and be sure to bring those old rifles for others to enjoy.
