2016 Spring Fling

IMG_1647This Sunday May 22 at 4:00 pm we will be holding our “annual” Spring Fling at the range in Cedarville. This is a friendly, clay bird competition that we started a few years ago and try, weather permitting, to continue each year. It is always a lot of fun and sometimes… becomes a little competitive. The coveted Golden Thrower trophy held by current champion Doug Atkins will once again be up for grabs.

If you like shooting clays or even if you have never tried it, come on out and join us for the afternoon. Bring your favorite shotgun if you have one or borrow one of ours. 12 gauge shells will be available to purchase at a reasonable price. A $5 entry fee will be collected to help cover the cost of the clay birds.

Hope to see you this Sunday afternoon, May 22 at 4:00 pm.

And The Winner Is…

It was an absolutely beautiful night to be outdoors. Participants Thursday evening at our first annual “Spring Fling” clay bird competition enjoyed friendly competition, food, and the smell of gunpowder and clay dust. Our congratulations to Doug Atkins for earning first place honors this year. Shooting ten rounds of five clays each, Doug shot five perfect rounds and ended up with a final score of 42 out of 50 birds. That was some mighty fine shooting Doug! Doug took possession of the coveted “Golden Thrower” trophy for this year and I’m sure will display it proudly. This same trophy will be passed on to next year’s winner so practice up. I’m sure Doug will be trying his best to hold on to it.

For those of you who were unable to attend this event, please take advantage of our bi-monthly range night next Thursday evening April, 24 at 5:15 pm. We always have a good time and the weather cannot get any better than this time of year. Comfortably warm temperatures, largely bug free atmosphere and late evening sunsets makes for the best shooting experience, at least in my opinion.

Friendly Competition Anyone?

This Thursday evening April 17, The Cedarville Marksmanship Club will be hosting a Clay Pigeon shooting competition. This “Spring Fling” as we’re calling it is open to any and all who would like to participate. This past Thursday during our bi-monthly range night we spent the evening practicing for this event. A few of the gang were first time participants of clay shooting and you couldn’t even tell by the way the clay dust was flying. A good time was had by all… and this was only practice!

The event will begin at 5:00 PM at the Cedarville Municipal Police Range and run until dark. Registration will be $10 per person and includes food, targets, awards and FUN. You may bring  your own ammo, or you may purchase 12 gauge shells for $8.00/box. If you don’t have a shotgun, there will be loaners available for you to use.

Please come out and join us for an evening of FUN and FRIENDLY competition.
