First Advanced Handgun Class

Saturday morning was crisp and sunny as 11 avid shooters gathered as The Cedarville Marksmanship Club, in assocation with Gryphon Defense Concepts, offered their first Advanced Handgun class focused on dealing with active shooter situati0ns.

Shooters spent more than three hours on the range working on a variety of elements to improve their skills.  After lunch partipants were given the opportunity to experience “force-on-force” scenarios.  With the help of students from the drama and criminal justice programs at Cedarville University, participants got a taste of the confusion and chaos that accompanies an active shooter situation.

The class ended with a debrief of each participant’s experience and what they would do differently.  After eight hours of shooting, discussion and scenario training participants left with a better understanding of active shooters and what role they may play in such a situation.
